TechStars Boulder Demo Day Is Here!
03 Aug 2011
One of the reasons Boulder is a great town for startups is because of the strong entrepreneurial community and support that businesses here give each other. Much credit can be given to Boulder's TechStars program - the same program that Orbotix came out of last summer. Each year 10 companies are chosen out of hundreds of applicants to go through the three month accelerator program. These companies are mentored throughout the summer by successful entrepreneurs to refine their businesses. Our very own Paul Berberian and Jim Booth were even among some of this years' mentors. It's great to see such overwhelming support from successful entrepreneurs for new entrepreneurs. We want to not only thank everyone who supported and helped our company last summer, but also all of the people who have supported and helped this years' TechStars class.
Thursday's TechStars Boulder Demo Day is the culmination of the program for the class of 2011. Earlier this week they practiced their pitch in front of hundreds of people from Boulder's startup community and received feedback - but Thursday is each companies' chance to pitch their ideas to investors. Last year over 400 investors from around the country came to Demo Day and it was covered by some of the top media in tech. TechStars even has a six episode series premiering on Bloomberg TV starting September 13th. The buzz in Boulder can already be felt and we're very proud of this years TechStars class. If you're in town for Boulder Demo Day stop by our office and say hi!
Feeling nostalgic, we thought back to where we were a year ago - in the exact same place - pitching Sphero as a business. It's amazing how far we've come in just 1 year - check out our TechStars Boulder Demo Day pitch from a year ago (back when we were known as Gearbox) and see for yourselves...
