Last week we brought Sphero to the Engadget Reader Meetup and it was yet again, a great success. The crowd grew and people couldn't help but block the walk ways as they stopped in wonder of the twisting lights as Spheros circled and raced around lining up to hit the ramps we had set out.
It was a night of fun and almost endless ingenious game ideas from Sphero's new fans. Sphero is still in prototype form, and this crowd knew that and could really imagine the potential of such a powerful, sensor rich device like Sphero.
One of my favorite moments at the event was towards the end of the night, the crew was beginning to clean up, the crowd was dissipating, yet one little girl refused to give up her Sphero. Her mother literally had to trick the little girl with Ice Cream to get the Sphero out of her hands. The mother reserved her daughter a Sphero right there on the spot via her smartphone on m.gosphero.com. The little girl had already named her Sphero and chosen her color of choice, and it was a really joyous moment for me, I wish she could have just taken a Sphero home right then.... But that's MY Sphero!
Our software development team is still in the San Francisco area attending the Annual Game Developer's Conference, trying to soak in the gaming design knowledge of the speakers and attendees. Although I am here to learn and socialize with other developers, Sphero is always a blast to play with and show off. So if you missed it at C.E.S. or would just like to get some one-on-one time with Sphero or Me (Adam) please send an email to email@example.com and let's set up a time to talk.
